Roundup: Bath advances to district finals in girls soccer

ELIDA — Chandler Clark had a goal and an assist as Bath defeated Bryan 2-1 to reach the Division II district finals in girls soccer Wednesday.

Ainsley Miller had a goal and Alexis Hammons had an assist also for the Wildkittens (14-4), who will play Celina, a 3-0 winner against Kenton, at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elida.

TIFFIN — The Pirates advanced to play Riverdale, a 1-0 overtime winner against Van Buren, at 6 p.m. Saturday at Columbian High School.

BLUFFTON — Dalton’s Taynor’s second goal of the match sent Bluffton to its first Heartland Conference win of the season when the sophomore found the back of the net in minute 107. The Beavers improved to 6-10 overall and 1-5 in the HCAC, while MSJ slipped to 3-13 and 1-5 in the conference.

Taynor took a feed from Christian Zapata and Wapakoneta graduate Hunter Coffey to secure the first goal of the match and give the Beavers a 1-0 lead at the 16:14 mark. MSJ answered back with a goal of their own to tie the game at 1-1 going into the half and then scored again in the second half for a 2-1 advantage.

In the 79th minute, Patrick Spillman took a feed from Zapata for a Beaver goal to tie the match 2-2 and send it into overtime.

Ohio Northern 2,

Heidelberg 1

TIFFIN — The Polar Bears snapped their two-game losing streak with the overtime victory.

Levi King provided the heroics for Northern. He netted his team-leading ninth goal of 2019 in the 94th minute off an assist from junior Beelal Hasan.

The victory improved ONU to 12-4-1 on the season and 4-2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play. The loss dropped the Student Princes to 3-10-1 overall and 1-5-0 in conference.

Seth Gundlach put ONU ahead 1-0 in the ninth minute with his seventh goal of the season, unassisted.

LIMA — The 15th-ranked Racers fell to 7-2-6 overall and 5-1-2 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

CINCINNATI — Bluffton slipped to 5-10 (2-4 HCAC) on the season while MSJ improved to 8-5-2 (4-1-1 HCAC)

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. — The Beavers won 25-20, 25-22, 25-18. Sarah Heydinger had 10 kills, Remi Bower had six kills, Carley Lester had six kills, Maddie White had 25 assists, Ottawa-Glandorf graduate Brooke Kleman had three aces and nine digs and Chelsey Taylor had eight digs for Bluffton.
