Harmon has low score at junior golf event

SIDNEY — The 16-18 division winner Carson Harmon’s even-par 72 gave him the low round during Thursday’s Lima Junior Golf Association McDonald’s Junior Series Bob Fridley Junior Tournament at Shelby Oaks Golf Club.

Liam Harris was the 16-18 runner-up with a 74.

Ellen Naumann was the girls 16-18 winner with a 73. Kayla Nartker shot an 84 for second.

Aiden Wehrman posted a 79 to win the boys 14-15 division. Connor Nartker finished second with an 81.

In the nine-hole competition Evan Altenburger was atop the Boys 12-13 leaderboard with a 47. Dominic Francis defeated Aiden Meinerding in a scorecard playoff for second after each shot 49.

Girls 15 and younger: Ella Porter won the girls 15 and younger champ with a 49. Kallie McKinley shot a 55 for second.

Women’s State Amateur

PERRYSBURG — St. Marys graduate Jill Schmitmeyer, who plays for the University of Findlay, fell 2 & 1 to Katlyn Shutt in the second round of the Women’s Ohio State Amateur Championship Flight on Wednesday at Belmont Country Club.
