LIMA — The Gardeners of Lima will host an open house from noon to 3 p.m. today in The Gardeners of Lima Club House at Faurot Park.
The city will present a plaque to honor the 42-year old Johnny Appleseed apple tree that is growing next to the building, which was grafted from the original Johnny Appleseed apple tree that was planted in Shawnee. Mark Mohr from the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will be in costume as Johnny Appleseed.
The Gardeners of Lima will also present an award to Potash Corp for efforts in helping to beautify the Lima area.
