LIMA — Sheriff deputies with bomb-sniffing dogs searched the SpartanNash warehouse Thursday after a bomb threat was made but nothing was found, Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish said.
The warehouse has been evacuated for nearly 90 minutes as two technicians from the bomb squad used dogs to conduct the search, Crish said.
The threat was called in at 10:21 a.m. to the business.
“They then called us,” Crish said.
Investigators have no suspects but will examine phone records to try to locate the person who made the call, Crish said.
The person who made the threat would face an inducing panic charge, which is a felony, Crish said.
SpartanNash’s local distribution center is at 1100 Prosperity Road, just off Neubrecht Road. The company is a food distributor including the largest for the U.S. military commissary and exchange in the world.
There are 260 employees at the Lima location.
The local facility has an on-site repair garage, truck-wash facility and a fueling center to support the transportation fleet. Local truck drivers at the company log 5.5 million miles each year, primarily in Ohio and Michigan but also in nearby states.
The Lima facility is 497,000 square feet of warehouse and offices that house a grocery, meat, dairy and frozen products operation. The company’s headquarters is in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
