ONU women win OAC regular-season title

ADA — The Ohio Northern women’s basketball team claimed the Ohio Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 51-48 victory over Marietta Sunday afternoon at the King Horn Center.

The Polar Bears conclude regular season play at 20-5 overall and 16-2 in OAC. Marietta finished 9-16, 5-13.

Senior Jordan Kimes’ double-double led the Polar Bears as she finished with 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. She also had tw blocks.

Junior Carly Thomas also scored a 16 points and had two key steals and three assists for ONU. Brooke Espenschied had three points, six rebounds and four assists.

With the victory, the Polar Bears earned the No. 1 seed in the OAC tournament.

ONU received a first-round bye in the tournament and host a semifinal game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the ONU Sports Center.

ONU went 18-of-53 from the field (34.0 percent), while Marietta went 18-of-51 (35.3 percent) from the field.

The Polar Bears won the rebounding battle 44-30, with 17 of those being offensive boards.

Men’s basketball

Marietta 74, Ohio Northern 65

MARIETTA —Marietta knocked off Ohio Northern Sunday at Marietta.

Sophomore Konnor Baker (Ada) led ONu with 14 points, as the Polar Bears closed out the regular season.

Ohio Northern finishes the regular season 12-13, 7-11 in the OAC. Marietta finishes 23-2, 16-2.

Isaiah Roux added 12 points for ONU, while freshman Travis Feitshans had 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Polar Bears will travel to Mount Union on Tuesday night in the OAC tournament quarterfinals.
