1980 Chevy Camaro Z28

LIMA — Vincent W. Piggins is the engineer behind the Z28. He designed this car for the Trans-America sedan series race, and convinced Chevy/GM management to sell it to the public. Vincent had been a Chevy engineer since 1956. He explained that when Ford released the Mustang he felt Chevy needed to come back with a car from the performance standpoint that would be superior to the Mustang. The Z28 name actually was just an option number on the Chevy Camaro, one of the most recognizable three letters in Camaro automotive history.

Brad Crites, of Lima, brought his 1980 Chevy Camaro Z28 to The Lima News’ Real Wheels Cruise-In. He has owned it for three years. This car featured low mileage, original paint and original interior. Crites believes his favorite memory of this beauty so far is just finding it!
