Miller scores 30 in Allen East victory

WAYNESFIELD — Spencer Miller had 30 points and 15 rebounds as Allen East defeated Waynesfield-Goshen 77-51 in boys basketball Saturday night.

The Mustangs’ Luke Perkins (15) and Logan Ryan (11) also scored in double digits.

Collin Lowe (16), Lake Turner (15) and Jarrod Bly (13) all scored in double digits for Waynesfield-Goshen.

St. Henry 60, Van Wert 36

ST. HENRY — Ryan Mikesell had 25 points and Evan Prenger nine scored.

Delphos St. John’s 60, Bath 49

BATH TOWNSHIP — Alex Odenweller had 20 points and Tyler Conley scored 18 for Delphos St. John’s. Andrew Renner had 22 points and Chad Frey scored eight for Bath.

Ottawa-Glandorf 50, Perrysburg 44

OTTAWA — Noah Bramlage had 21 points and Brad Recker scored eight as O-G improved to 15-6 on the season.

Bluffton 75, Vanlue 34

BLUFFTON — Levi Kistler (12), Mitchell Ault (11), Eli Runk (11) and Nick Swisher (10) all scored in double digits for Bluffton.

Findlay 87, Shawnee 65

FINDLAY — JaQuan Tucker had 23 points and Jaden O’Neal scored 17 for Shawnee.

Coldwater 55, Wapakoneta 53

COLDWATER — The host Cavaliers came back from a 23-19 halftime deficit. Aaron Harlament had 16 points and Derek Thobe scored 13 for Coldwater. Adam Henderson had 22 points and Aaron Huffman and Corey Crawford scored eight each for Wapak.

Miller City 53, Columbus Grove 50

COLUMBUS GROVE — Adam Niese had 15 points and Adam Drummelsmith scored 12 for Miller City in a Putnam County match-up. Jace Darbyshire had 18 point and Gabe Stechschulte scored nine for Columbus Grove.

Tinora 62, Continental 36

DEFIANCE — Derek Troyer had 12 points and Wade Stauffer scored 10 for Continental.

Ottoville 69, Leipsic 58

OTTOVILLE — Brandt Landin (15), Tyler Roby (14) and Kyle Bendele (14) all scored in double digits for Ottoville. Jordan Brown had 19 points and Matt Schroeder scored nine for Leipsic in a Putnam County battle.

CONTINENTAL — Alex Quigley had 11 points and Emma Recker scored 10 for Continental.

Columbus Grove 65, Pandora-Gilboa 49

PANDORA — Jade Clement (23), Carlee McCluer (17) and Kyrah Yinger (11) all scored in double digits for Columbus Grove in a Putnam County battle. Breana Hovest had 23 points and Alexa Maag scored nine for Pandora-Gilboa.

Games called off

Several boys and girls high school basketball games involving Lima area teams were called off Saturday due to the weather.

Boys games that have been postponed and rescheduled for Monday with 6 p.m. junior varsity start times include: Elida at Delphos Jefferson, Lima Senior at Mansfield Senior, Botkins at Perry, Ansonia at Fort Recovery and Jackson Center at Temple Christian. The Upper Scioto Valley at New Knoxville girls game is also scheduled for a 6 p.m. JV start Monday.

The Parkway at Adams Central boys game has been tentatively rescheduled for a 6 p.m. JV start time Thursday. Also with a 6 p.m. Thursday, the Hardin Northern JV and varsity boys are scheduled to play at Riverside. The Upper Scioto Valley at Kenton JV and varsity games are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The New Knoxville at Crestview boys, Kenton at Spencerville girls and Ottoville at Liberty-Benton and Minster at Waynesfield-Goshen girls games were also called off Saturday.

BOWLING GREEN — None of the three Lima Senior relay teams that qualified for the Division I district scored any points in the meet. The boys 200-yard freestyle relay team of Nick and Will Jolliff, Brad Stubbs and Taylor Mericle had the best Spartans finish, coming in 19th.

Men’s OAC

AKRON — Ohio Northern won its 11th consecutive 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships title Saturday at the University of Akron’s Ocasek Natatorium.

The Polar Bears finished with 835.5 points, Mount Union was second with 465.5 points and Wilmington was third with 483.5 points.

Jeremy Preston won the 200 butterfly in 1:53.09. In the final event of the meet, Ohio Northern won the 400 free relay. Eric Chen, freshman Gabe Dauch, Mitchell Murphy and Logan Pfeifer finished in 3:06.33.

Women’s OAC

AKRON — Lindsey Inkrott and Allison Lohnes finished 1-2 in the 200 back to lead Ohio Northernon the third and final day of the 2015 OAC Swimming & Diving Championships.

The Polar Bears finished second out of seven teams with 642 points, snapping a streak of six consecutive team titles.

Mount Union won the team title with 832 points.

Women

ONU 9, St. Mary’s (Ind.) 0

LIMA — Ohio Northern opened the spring portion of its 2014-15 schedule with a over St. Mary’s (Ind.) inside at the Westwood Tennis & Fitness Center.

Senior Michelle Tuma and junior Meghan Letizia led ONU with a 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles and 6-0, 6-1 wins at Nos. 1 and 4 singles, respectively.

Ferris State 7, UNOH 2

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The University of Northwestern Ohio fell to 4-3 on the season. Valeria Popko and Lina Ramos got the Racers on the board with a 9-8 win in No. 3 doubles and Ana Lacerda took UNOH’s lone singles point with a 6-1, 7-6 win in No. 6 singles.

Men

Ferris State 6, UNOH 3

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The University of Northwestern Ohio fell to 6-2 on the season. Rik van Gerwin and Emin Alpan took an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. Daniel Reuda picked up a 6-3, 6-1 No. 1 singles win and Gabriel Cleto took the No. 5 singles match 6-2, 6-2.

Hope 7, ONU 2

HOLLAND, Mich. — Ohio Northern got its 2015 season underway with a loss at Hope (Mich.) at Hope’s DeWitt Tennis Center.

Junior Josh Mostowy had a hand on both of Ohio Northern’s wins on the day.

He posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles and combined with senior Sam Prewitt to win 8-5 at No. 1 doubles.
