Shawnee uses strong start in 2nd half to top Allen East

HARROD — After holding a 25-23 halftime advantage, Shawnee outscored Allen East 19-7 in the third period and then went on to 59-47 girls basketball victory Saturday.

Rachel Evans had 23 points and DeAsia Smith scored 15 for Shawnee. Aubri Woods had 18 points and Kylie Wyss scored 11 for Allen East.

New Knoxville 60, Botkins 30

NEW KNOXVILLE — Meg Reineke had 17 points and Kenzie Schroer scored 12 for New Knoxville.

Tri-Village 50, Fort Recovery 45

FORT RECOVERY — Raya Mikesell had 22 points and Ecko Brown scored 17 for Fort Recovery.

Versailles 47, Jackson Center 21

JACKSON CENTER — Jackson Center was never able to recover after Versailles built a 19-4 first quarter. Lauren Bruns led Versailles with 15 points.

Games called off

All boys high school basketball games involving Lima area teams were called off Saturday night due to inclement weather. Most of the girls games were also canceled.

Boys JV and varsity games that have been rescheduled include (with JV start times in parenthesis): Jackson Center-Temple Christian (6 p.m. Feb. 21), Van Wert at St. Henry (6 p.m. Feb. 21), Lehman at Hardin Northern (6 p.m. Feb. 24), Crestview at Wayne Trace (6 p.m. Feb. 24) and Parkway at Perry (tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 24).

The St. Henry at Fort Loramie girls JV and varsity games are now scheduled to be played Monday with the junior varsity contest set to start at 5 p.m.

Versailles 55

VERSAILLES — In the lead almost the entire game, St. John’s prevented Versailles from pulling out a Midwest Athletic Conference win in the final seconds Friday night.

It was the first home loss this season for the Tigers (14-4, 5-3 in MAC).

Tim Kreeger (14), Andy Grothouse (13), Alex Odenweller (12) and Tyler Conley (11) all scored in double digits for St. John’s (11-6, 4-3 in MAC).
