LIMA — A vacant house at 820 E. Michael Ave. sustained $10,000 in damages from an early morning house fire Thursday, the Lima Fire Department reported.

Crews were called just after midnight and were on the scene until about 1:30 a.m. When they arrived smoke was visible from the attic of the single-story house.

The LFD said the house had caught fire once before a few months ago, however the details of that fire were not available Thursday morning. The electricity had been turned off in the house and there was minimal furnishings inside.

Reportedly, the house was undergoing repair work. The LFD said it is unclear if the work conducted on the house caused the fire.

The house is owned by Shawn Wakefield and valued at $23,800, according to the Allen County Auditor’s website. The LFD said the house sustained $10,000 of damage.
