DELPHOS — For one local company, a change in ownership doesn’t necessarily mean a change in business operations.

Thermo King of Delphos was sold, effective Friday, to Thermo King of Indiana Inc., a company that owns several other Thermo King locations.

Previous owners Tom and Mary Odenweller owned the company since 1977, and with Tom Odenweller’s decision to retire, came the decision to sell, according to a release from the two companies.

“The business is going to be operated exactly as it was before the ownership change, with one exception, ‘me.’ I am retiring,” according to a statement from Tom Odenweller.

Dan Bartholomew, president of Thermo King of Indiana, said the dealer company is excited about the purchase.

“An opportunity to expand in this business doesn’t come along relatively often,” he said. “It’s just an opportunity to grow and we’re very excited about it.”

The company, located at 801 W. Fifth St., has 10 employees, who will stay on, and Odenweller’s brother, Don, will become the new general manager, Bartholomew said.

“They have run a very responsible business there,” Bartholomew said. “They’re well-respected.”

This location adds to the territory and customers served by the eight other locations owned and operated by Thermo King of Indiana Inc., according to the release.

Bartholomew said the new location “expands our capabilities.”

“It gives us more strength in the marketplace from a competitive standpoint,” he said.

The company, based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, has one other Ohio location, in Millbury, as well as four locations in Indiana, and one each in Illinois and Missouri.

The Odenwellers could not be reached for further comment.
