Easter Sunday service planned

ST. MARYS — There will be an Easter Sunday service at 10 a.m. April 5 at Living Hope Assembly of God, 1130 Indiana Ave. A continental breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. and there will be a balloon release at 11:15 a.m. with an Easter egg hunt immediately afterwards. Shrine to host cancer prayer service

MARIA STEIN — There will be a special prayer service to St. Peregrine, the patron saint of cancer, at 2 p.m. April 19 at the Shrine Chapel at Maria Stein, 2291 St. Johns Road. While the service is open to everyone, it will focus on those who have cancer, doctors, nurses and others who work with cancer patients. After a service that includes prayer, songs, testimonials and veneration of the relic of St. Peregrine, there will be refreshments and a short fellowship time. Holy Week at Holy Nativity Anglican Church

LIMA — There will be series of Holy Week services at Holy Nativity Anglican Church, 2495 N. Cole St., starting with a Palm Sunday service at 10 a.m. Sunday. This will be followed by a Maundy Thursday Holy Communion at 6 p.m. April 2. There will be an evening prayer and the Stations of the Cross at 6 p.m. April 3 for Good Friday. Holy Saturday will be celebrated from 5 to 7 p.m. April 4 with a time for reflection and meditation called “Silence in the Cathedral.” The week will culminate with the Easter Sunday Holy Communion at 10 a.m. April 5. Maundy Service planned at Westside UMC

Church plans youth fundraiser

LIMA — An annual youth barbecue fundraiser will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. April 18 at Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, 7590 Sandusky Road. Poverty simulation to take place

BLUFFTON — The Bluffton Are Ministerial Association will hold a poverty simulation from 9 a.m. to noon April 11 at Burky Gym at Bluffton University. Participants will take on roles of low-income family members, from single parents through senior citizens. The participant will then have to seek assistance from various social services during the course of four 15-minute “weeks.” Participants must register by March 31. Lima man to be ordained to Transitional Diaconate

CAREY — The Bishop Daniel Thomas will ordain David Kidd, of Lima, Austin Ammanniti and Jeffery Smith for the Diocese of Toledo at the Transitional Diaconate at Mass for the Conferral of Holy Orders for the Ordination of Deacons at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, 315 Clay St. The event will be broadcast live on Annunciation Radio, 89.7 FM.
