Students provide art for conference

Lima Senior High School art students will have work on display at the upcoming Break Every Chain women’s conference. Designed to generate awareness and provide education on human trafficking, the conference will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Students head to international DECA conference

Fourteen Lima Senior High School DECA students qualified for the International Career Development Conference scheduled later this month in Orlando, Florida. Attendees indcude: Brad Stubbs, Taylor Lesh, Alexus Marable, Cache Alexander, Nate Ridenour, Brandon Shadley, Tyler Dunlap, Levi Quintero, Perkins Jackson, Devin Colley, Taylor Mericle, Alex Ehora, Reghan Winkler and Jaden Burk.

More than 40 Lima Senior students qualified for the Ohio DECA International Career Development Conference held last weekend in Columbus.

The following students placed in top 10: First Place: Brad Stubbs, Human Resource Management, winner of $1,000 Ohio DECA Scholarship; First place/GOLD: Alex Ehora, Reghan Winkler and Jaden Burk, School Based Enterprise. Second place: Taylor Lesh, Financial Consulting; Second place: Alexus Marable, Cache Alexander and Nate Ridenour, Community Service Project – Big Spartans Little Spartans mentor program.; Fourth place: Brandon Shadley, Tyler Dunlap and Levi Quintero, Entrepreneurship Promotion Project.; Fourth place: Perkins Jackson, Devin Colley and Taylor Mericle, Financial Literacy Promotion Project.; Fifth Place: Chase Barnett, Principles of Hospitality.; Fifth Place: Reghan Winkler, Retail Merchandising.; Fifth Place: Jaden Burk, Professional Selling.; Top Ten: Will Jolliff, Business Law & Ethics.; Top Ten: Serena Mason, Principles of Hospitality.; Top Ten: James Moore amd Ashley Ridenour, Hospitality Team Decision Making.

Six basketball players qualified for state, but were not able to compete because of the district tournament, including Xavier Simpson, Ruben Flowers, Elijah Pughsley, Ilias Wright and Rico Stafford.

Family night scheduled

Freedom Elementary School will hold a Family Night from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The event will have a Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss theme.

Author visits school

Author-Illustrator David Slonin will visit Bath Elementary School on Monday with presentation times at 8 a.m., 9 a.m, 10 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Students present energy exhibit

The Lima Senior High School Art Department will present the “Visual Energy” Art Exhibition Wednesday to April 10 at The Allen County Museum, 620 W. Market St. An opening reception with refreshments will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Preschool hosts open house

Hilty Preschool and Child Care, Pandora, is hosting a summer and fall registration open house for parents of prospective 6-week-old through 12-year-old children from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

New Knoxville High School Spring Play hosts “Sleeping Beauty of Loreland” from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 28. Tickets are $5.

Student recognized by high school

The Student of the Month for February at Bluffton High School is Sara Bertka, daughter of Randy and Holly Bertka, of Bluffton. Sara is a Junior and has a 4.0 GPA.

Columbus Grove students featured in “Beauty and the Beast”

Friday and Saturday the Columbus Grove Choral Department will be sponsoring its 48th annual High School Musical. This year’s production will be Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The cast will feature high school students Alyssa Langhals, Marcus Delarosa, Kasey Kruse, Grant Anderson, Austin Spangler, Amanda Shafer, Krista Welty, Christine Ricker, Eli Wisswasser, Kyle Shafer, and Rayne Sharrits, as well as a fantastic cast and crew of 38 high school students.

Tickets are on sale in the Columbus Grove High School Office. Tickets are $10 for reserved seating, $7 for adult general seating, and $4 for student general seating. Performances will begin at 7 p.m. in the Columbus Grove Auditorium.
