LIMA — The Allen County Dog Warden is updating its fleet with the purchase of a new vehicle, as approved by Allen County commissioners Tuesday.

Dog Warden Julie Shellhammer said her office has purchased a 2011 Ford Transit cargo vehicle for $12,900 from Robb Overpass Auto Sales. The vehicle has 83,000 miles on the odometer, with an estimated combined fuel economy of 23 miles per gallon, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

“That will save the department a lot of money,” Shellhammer said. “The vehicle also sits really low, which is great for getting dogs in.”

The purchasing funds are coming out of the department budget and not the county general fund, according to Shellhammer.
