LIMA — A fire inside a motor home’s engine damaged a neighboring building Friday.

The Lima Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at 573 W. Spring St. just before 3 a.m., the department said.

Investigator Toby Jenkins said the 1978 Titan mobile home had been sitting in the parking lot next to the buliding for some time and featured historic plates. Jenkins said it is unclear if someone was vandalizing the mobile home when the fire started.

It is also unclear how long the motor home had been sitting in the parking lot, as the owner of the vehicle lives out of state, Jenkins said.

The building was once a gas station but has since remained vacant.

The property sustained $1000 in property damages and $500 in contents, Jenkins said. Crews were on scene for about an hour.

Jenkins said there are no leads in the investigation, and there are no suspects.
