Offseason NFL chatter becomes more prevalent

This week feels like it’s the week of the NFL draft.

I mean, radio, TV and newspapers are all over the National Football League right now.

Non-stop.

It used to be that outside of the NFL season, you wouldn’t hear much about pro football talk, until the week of the draft.

Now, you have that goofy NFL combine that we media cover for some reason, and then this free agency frenzy period.

And it’s not just free agent signings.

Already this week there have been a couple of major trades.

I mean, the Saints trading away arguably their best player in Jimmy Graham?

Hello!

Now there could be one that would argue that the Saints were just 7-9 WITH him this past season.

But, please.

Is there a better tight end in the league than Graham?

I saw him in person dominate the Browns this year, although Cleveland did win the game.

Speaking of the Browns — ugh!

They have so much money to spend, why not do it?

I know teams definitely overpay for players this week, for sure.

But the Browns will need more help than just the upcoming draft to better their team.

A lot more help!

And we know how the draft has gone in recent years.

Double ugh!

I think Brian Hartline is an upgrade at receiver.

Also, he comes in with something to prove.

Two really good seasons before a “down” campaign last year with Miami.

He says he is just, “entering his prime.”

Plus, he’s coming home.

He grew up in Canton and played college football with the Buckeyes.

I like that when players come home.

Not like free agents are flocking to Cleveland because of the weather.

I remember when former New Orleans Saints pro bowler LeCharles Bentley came home and signed a free agent contract with the Browns back in 2006.

Got injured in his first practice and never got a chance to play for his hometown team.

Disaster!

Why do we Cleveland pro sports fans always remember the bad first, then the good.

If there is good to remember.

Been awhile for the Browns, for sure.

They may not be signing a bunch of players, but they are sure losing them to free agency.

And the bad news is that the players leaving of late are like 25 years old.

And draft picks of the Browns.

Jordan Cameron, Jabal Sheard, Buster Skrine.

Triple ugh!

I am tuning out of the NFL right now, and instead concentrating on March Madness.

High school basketball is at its peak with the “road to Columbus” well underway and the NCAA tournament tipping off next Tuesday.

No more NFL talk until the week of the draft.

Well, at least for me.

Who are the Browns rumored to be signing again?
