LIMA — A house fire caused extensive damage to a home at 922 N. Metcalf St. before being put out Thursday.
According to a report from the Lima Fire Department, a call was received at 3:45 p.m. Firefighters responded to the scene to find a fire had started in the basement and spread to two floors and the attic of the home.
One firefighter received a minor burn injury and was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Junior Gibson, owner/occupant of the home, and another person living there were not at home at the time of the fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire at about 6 p.m. The American Red Cross was contacted to help with the displaced residents.
The report estimated the damage at $30,000. AEP Power disconnected power at the scene.
