UNOH women’s basketball player receives honor

LIMA — Women’s basketball player Madison Coldren becsme the first player in University of Northwestern Ohio history to earn a place on an Academic All-District team as a part of CoSIDA’s Capital One Academic All-America program.

Coldren was announced as one of five players on the Academic All-District One College Division team, and one of 26 players in the College division — which covers all NAIA, CIS, and NJCAA schools. In order to be eligible for the program, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student with at least a 3.30 GPA. Nominees must also be starters or key reserves for their teams.

Coldren is the Racers’ leading scorer this season with 406 points, averaging 16.2 per game and also leads the team with a 7.7 rebounds per game average. She had a school single game rebound record with 18 in the Racers’ 84-59 win over Marygrove College on Wednesday night. Coldren needs seven rebounds to tie the Racers’ career record for rebounding (Amanda Francis – 620) and is also closing in on the 1,000 career point mark. Coldren is a 3.62 student, majoring in Business administration.
