Conferences scheduled

Parent/teacher conferences will be held in the elementary, middle and high schools in the Lima City School District on Monday and Tuesday.

There will be no school Feb. 12 and 13. School will also be closed Feb. 16 for Washington’s Birthday. Classes will resume Feb. 17.

Conferences will be held the following days and times: Freedom Elementary: 3 to 6:45 p.m. Monday and 3 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday; Heritage Elementary: 3:15 to 7 p.m. Monday and 3:15 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday; Independence Elementary: 3:15 to 7 p.m. Monday and 3:15 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday; Unity Elementary: 3:15 to 7 p.m. Monday and 3:15 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday; Liberty Arts Magnet: 3:30 to 7 p.m. Monday and 3:30 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday; South Science Technology Magnet: 3:15 to 6:45 p.m. Monday and 3:15 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday; Lima North Middle School: 3 to 6:30 p.m. Monday and 3 to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday; Lima West Middle School: 3:45 to 7:15 p.m. Monday and 3:45 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesday; and Lima Senior High School: 3:30 to 7 p.m. Monday and 3:30 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

College credit changes for new high school students

The state of Ohio is making changes to dual enrollment and postsecondary enrollment options that will make more options available at a lower cost to families.

The mandated changes start next school year.

Lima Senior High School will have a parent meeting to discuss the changes and what it means for families at 6 p.m. Monday in the school auditorium.

Science Fair to be held at Jennings Local School

The 61st Annual Putnam County Science Fair will be held at the Jennings Local School Gymnasium on Saturday. Judging of projects will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the public is welcome to view all projects beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The awards ceremony will begin at about 11:30 a.m.

The Putnam County Science Fair is coordinated by the Putnam County Educational Service Center and science teachers from districts within Putnam County. For information concerning the science fair, contact Beth Hench at 419-523-5951, ext. 3046.

Free screening for children ages newborn to 5

Help Me Grow, an organization based in Auglaize County is hosting a free screening for parents who want to meet the needs of children in their growth stages.

If parents have questions or concerns about their child’s developmental milestones, they are invited to attend the screening from 9 a.m. to noon March 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta. Another screening will also be held March 30 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the ABC Center in New Bremen.
