ADA — The Ohio Northern University Department of Theatre will host its annual spring dance concert, “Choreographers’ Showcase,” Saturday and Sunday at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

ONU dance director Laurie Bell said ONU has been having the event for more than 20 years.

“We expect some exciting dance from some great guests and students,” Bell said.

Guests include national dance artists Thom Cobb and Bobby Wesner. The Saturday performance will include an all-male piece, which is a first for the show.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. An all-day event for students of dance begins at 2 p.m. Saturday. Call 419-772-1900 to register for the workshop by noon today.

Tickets for the show are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 faculty/staff and $5 for students. For groups of 10 or more, all tickets are $5, with one complimentary ticket.

Bell said this is the third time the event has included choreography by ONU students.

“There are several dance forms that will be performed,” Bell said. “Hip-hop, modern dance, ballet.”

Bell said other guest choreographers will include Elizabeth Cozad and Brenda Hoyt-Backman. About 40 ONU dancers will participate in the performance.
