Whitmer’s comeback hands Lima Senior one-point loss

Lima Senior took a five-point lead into the fourth quarter but Toledo Whitmer came on strong in the final eight minutes to beat the Spartans 53-52 in girls high school basketball Monday night.

Essence Cowan scored 18 points and Rion Thompson had 13 points for Lima Senior (9-6, 3-5 Three Rivers Athletic Conference).

Maddie Brown scored 22 points, including five 3-pointers, for Whitmer (9-6, 5-4 TRAC).

Emily Bauer scored 14 points and Lindsey Motycka had 12 points for Crestview (15-0).

Erin Morrow led Van Wert (4-12) with 12 points.
