MORAINE, Ohio (AP) — Safety regulators say they've repeatedly found unsafe working conditions at a glass products company's southwest Ohio plant.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says complaints from workers at the Fuyao (foo-YOW') Glass America Inc. facility in Moraine began after it started operations last fall and led to multiple inspections and about $227,000 in proposed fines. The agency says it cited the company for 23 "serious" safety violations and one other violation.
OSHA says Fuyao has contested citations issued this year, including for alleged violations involving machine safety, electrical hazards and a lack of personal protective gear.
The Dayton Daily News reports Fuyao's president and other representatives didn't immediately return calls seeking comment.
The company employs over 2,000 people at the Moraine site, which was formerly a General Motors factory.
