Uncle of woman found dead says niece died for a reason

ASHLAND, Ohio (AP) — The uncle of one of three women found dead in Ohio says he believes his niece died for a reason.

Hundreds of people gathered for a candlelight vigil Thursday evening in Ashland for the victims, including Stacey Stanley.

The Mansfield News Journal reports (http://ohne.ws/2cBrE4y ) Stanley's uncle told the crowd that his niece's disappearance led family members searching for her toward a house in Ashland, where another woman was being held captive.

Family members say they believe their search efforts led Shawn Grate to doze off after a sleepless night, allowing the woman to call 911.

The bodies of Stanley and another unidentified woman were found in the home. Grate later led authorities to a third body.

Grate is faces murder charges. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
