The Lima Senior High School Athletic Department will honor two state championship football teams at its first football game of the season, Aug. 26, at Spartan Stadium.
The 1946 Central High School team and the 1996 Lima Senior High School team will both be recognized prior to the 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The Central team finished 10-0 that season and won a poll state championship. The 1996 team went 13-1 and won the Division I state championship in the playoffs.
Players, coaches and others associated with the team will be honored on the field. They are asked to contact the Athletic Department at 419-996-3050 so the department knows who is coming.
Family members of those from the 1946 team are invited to represent the players and coaches if they cannot attend. Please contact the Athletic Department.
Ohio Northern picked third in OAC football race
CANTON — Mount Union was predicted to win the Ohio Athletic Conference football championship for the 25th year in a row at the OAC Football Media Day on Tuesday at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Ohio Northern was predicted to finish third in both a poll of the league’s coaches and in a media vote.
Mount Union received nine of the 10 first-place votes in the coaches poll with Ohio Northern getting the other vote. Mount Union got all 30 first-place votes in the media poll.
St. John’s announces ticket sales plans
DELPHOS — Delphos St. John’s High School will sell football season tickets and volleyball and soccer tickets at the high school at the following times:
Today and Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-noon and 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. , Friday from 7:30 a.m.-11 a.m. and Aug. 16 from 7-7:30 p.m.
Reserved season tickets cost $35 and general admission season tickets cost $28. A student season ticket costs $20.
A varsity volleyball pass costs $45 for adults and $35 for students. A junior high volleyball pass costs $18 for students and $10 for adults. A soccer family pass costs $30.
