LIMA — Every score counts.
Shawnee took home top honors at the 2016 Rob Contini Memorial after a tie was broken with Liberty-Benton when the score relied on the No. 6 golfer at the Lost Creek Golfers Club Monday.
After both the Indians and the Falcons came into the clubhouse with identical 319 scores, the first tie-breaker went down to the fifth lowest score and Shawnee’s Nick Guerrero and Liberty-Benton’s Tyler George both shot 86 which then moved it down to the sixth golfer.
Shawnee’s Will Greeley posted an 87 and that was six strokes better than Liberty-Benton’s Michael Kotey and that gave the Indians the title.
Individually, Spencerville’s Ethan Harmon claimed top medalist honors with a 3-over 74. Rounding out the top five finishers were Cole Thomas, Arlington (75), Adrian Willers, Lima Temple Christian (75), Nicklaus Lyons, Bellefontaine (76) and Dillon Callicoat, West Liberty-Salem (76).
Contributing to Shawnee’s win were Keaton McKinley (77), Sam Reed (80) and Drew Ambroza (82).
Finishing third was Bellefontaine with a 325 followed by West-Liberty Salem with a 326. Rounding out the top five was Spencerville with a 331.
Defiance Boys Golf Invitational
DEFIANCE — Archbold took first place in the 18-team Defiance Boys Golf Invitational after shooting a 342 at Eagle Rock Golf Clup Monday.
Tinora was second with a 346 and Kalida rounded out the top three with a score 0f 350. Ottawa-Glandorf was 11th overall with a score of 389 and Van Wert with a 414 was 15th.
Hayden Clingerman placed first with a score of 73 followed by Van Wert’s Jared Hernandez with a 79. Ethan Dominique of Paulding was third with a score of 81,
Jeffrey Knueve was Kalida’s top golfer with an 85 with Josh Klausing finishing second for the Wildcats by shooting an 86 and teammate Trent Siebeneck scored an 89.
Findlay High School Trojans Invitational
ARLINGTON — Lima Central Catholic shot a 408 for sixth place and Shawnee finished seventh with a 418 in the Findlay High School Lady Trojans Invitational Monday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course.
Northview garnered first place with a score of 333. Findlay finished second with a score of 358 and Bowling Green was third with a score of 359. Van Buren’s 367 was good enough for fourth and Anthony Wayne was fifth a score of 382.
Top medalists for the event was Northview’s Ashley Knight with a 70 followed Micayla Moldenke of Toledo Whitmer with a 75. Bowling Green’s Macy Hanus brought home a 76. Northview’s Lexi Knight and Peyton Bruce of Ottawa Hills both produced 81s.
LCC sophomore Megan Mulcahy led the T-Birds with a 91. Other LCC scores were Callie Koenig (103), Lexie Evans (015), Hannah Garver (109), Riley Smith (110) and Alivia Contini (115),
For Shawnee, junio Megan Spainhower was the top Indian on their team leaderboard with a 98. Reagan Wheeler was second on the team with a 102 and Taylor Burgess was third with a 102. Morgan Altenbach and Jeann Fullom had identical scores of 111. Others scores on the Indians were Bailey Gillen (115).
LINCOLNVIEW — Parkway’s Haylee Stukey earned a 10th place medal by shooting a 98 at the Lincolnview Invitational Monday.
Only three players were available to play for Parkway, so all recorded individual scores. Mecaylah Hesse shot a 116 and Lauren Henderson finished with a 121.
Team Scoring was lead by Lincolnvew with a score of 390, Wayne Trace earned second with a 398 score and Defiance finished third with a 412 score.
Medalist honors went to Gracie Gudakunst of Wayne Trace with a score of 88.
