Allen County Archers

The Allen County Archers, at the corner of state Route 117 and Defiance Trail, have a pair of monthly shoots planned. A traditional shoot is held the third Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. An open shoot is the first Saturday and Sunday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For details, call Neil Wallace at 567-825-7109.




Locos Express tryouts for the 13U – 18U teams for the 2017 season will be held Aug. 7 at Simmons Field (home of the Lima Locos). Times to TBD. The Express select teams will be competing in tournaments after the end each school’s 2017 spring baseball year. Receive instruction and practice in an indoor facility this winter by collegiate and professional instructors. Visit to register for tryouts. Registration is required. The 2017 NWO Bullfrogs 14U travel baseball team is looking for pitchers and catchers, but is open for all position players. Tryouts will be Aug. 6-7 from 1 -3 p.m. at Village Park in Bluffton, Ohio. The Lima Salvation Army, 614 E. Market St., Lima, has an adult open gym from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays for anyone 18 years of age or older.


The Lady Barons of The Ohio State University and Rhodes State would like to invite area female basketball players to join with them for Open Gym on Sunday evenings at 5 p.m.



Westgate Entertainment Center will offer two free games of bowling every day to children through this summer. Families who register will have coupons sent to their email accounts every Sunday. The program runs through Aug. 31. For details, call 419-227-721 or email [email protected]


The Tour de Putnam 25, 50, 75 and 100 mile flat routes will be held Aug. 27. The pre-registration is $30 and the same day registration $35. The family pre-registration is $75 and the family same day registration $80. Registration and packet pick up as early as 7 a.m. day of event. All riders must be on route by 9 a.m. Ride Routes Close and SAG ends at 5 p.m. The tour begins and ends at the Putnam County YMCA. The tour travels through several towns within Putnam County with many stops along the way, fully stocked with snacks and beverages. Lunch will be provided.

Bath Parents Sports Club is accepting registrations for the season for boys kindergarten through second grade and third grade through fourth grade. Sign-ups will be available through the elementary the first week of school or Facebook. Registrations may be mailed or turned in from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, and Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Community Rooms in the bus garage on north corner of Bible Road and Slabtown Road. The Bluffton flag football league is now accepting applications for youth ages 7 to 10. Games will be at 9 a.m. Saturdays from Aug. 22 to Oct. 1. Registration is $55 before Aug. 12 and $65 after the 12th.

Open Arms and The LaRiche Family of Dealerships will be holding the 2016 Charity Golf Classic on Sept. 16. This year’s event will be held at Red Hawk Run Golf Club in Findlay. Registration and breakfast begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start scheduled for 9 a.m. Proceeds from the annual golf outing will benefit Open Arms Domestic Violence & Rape Crisis Services. Team registration is currently taking place and will be limited to 27 foursomes. The cost for registration is $360 per team or $90 per individual. Registration costs include breakfast, lunch, snacks, drink tickets, green fees, cart and a silent auction. The LaRiche Family of Dealerships is offering two Hole-in-One contests, featuring cash or credit toward a new car. Deadline for registration is Sept. 5. Bluffton Family Recreation has moved its traditional Labor Day 5K, to the weekend of the Bluffton Fall Festival on Sept. 24. Except for the date change, this year’s race is very similar to previous races. The race starts at 9 a.m. A kid’s fun run and walk is at 10 a.m. Age groups in the run are:14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60 and up. Race day registration starts for the 5K at 8:30 a.m. and for the fun run at 9:30 a.m.

Canal Days 5K

Delphos Canal Days will host a 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. Sept. 18. The race will begin and end on Second Street in Delphos. Cost is $25 if pre-registered before Aug. 26 which includes a t-shirt or $20 with no t-shirt. Students K-12 registration cost is $20/$15. Race Day registration will be available for everyone for $20 in front of First Financial Bank at 8 am with no shirt guarantee. Mugs will be awarded to top 3 finishers in each male and female age group. Forms can be down loaded at Delphos Chamber of Commerce website under Canal Days. Fort Jennings

The Cannonball Run a 5k run/walk will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Fort Jennings park as part of the town’s Fort Fest. T-shirts, awards, drink ticket and live band are included. Contact Melissa Wurst at 419-302-6855 or [email protected] for more information.

Lima Sabres

The Lima Sabres has various shooting events. Junior Smallbore Club will be Mondays at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. through Aug. 29. The .22 Rimfire Mini Palm is 5:45 p.m. Mondays through Sept. 19, with Aug. 29 off. MPCC matches are at 9 a.m. the second Sunday of each through October. The Steel Challenge Pistol Shoot is at 2 p.m. the third Sunday of each month through September. Junior Handgun Matches are at 2 p.m. the third Sunday through September. High Power Rifle Matches are at 8:30 a.m. the third Sunday through September. The Tuesday Trap, 5 Stand and Trap Practice is 6 p.m. weekly through August. Thursday Trap Practice and League is 4 p.m. weekly. Junior Wednesday morning trap practice is 9 a.m. to noon weekly, weather permitting. Bowling pin matches are 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 13. Bluffton Family Recreation is teaming up with Bluffton-Pandora Youth for Christ for a double-elimination coed softball tournament held in the Pandora Park on Sept. 5. There is room for eight teams. In addition, the event includes a home run derby and yard games and picnic for families. The cost is $200 per team. Games start at 9 a.m.
