Celina, St. Marys advance to district finals

ELIDA – To get to the Division II regionals in boys soccer, a team must pass through the Western Buckeye League.Monday’s district semifinals at Elida featured the top four WBL boys teams.In the first semifinal, Celina pulled away in the second half to notch a 5-2 victory over Wapakoneta.In the nightcap, St. Marys, which notched the WBL title this season, fought off a tough Ottawa-Glandorf squad for a 2-0 victory.Celina (12-2-3) will face St. Marys (10-2-3) Thursday at Elida for the district championship, with play scheduled to start at 6 p.m. O-G ends the season 12-2-1.After going into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead, Celina then came out in the second half and put the pressure on Wapakoneta.
