Its reputation mired by a plethora of personal fouls and its branding efforts suffering one interception after another, you would think the business of football would be punting right now from deep within its own end zone.Guess again.When the television ratings came out for the week of Sept. 14, the National Football League held the top three spots. How important is this? Let’s just say national TV ratings are the ultimate scorecard when big-money advertisers decide who is fed well by the cash cow. They may publicly howl about the NFL’s handling of players charged with domestic abuse and child abuse, but in the end, these advertisers know what people are watching on TV, and that’s where they spend their dollars.
