Moses leads No. 25 Purdue past Ohio State in women’s hoops

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Courtney Moses scored 18 points and No. 25 Purdue made 27 of 29 free throws to turn back Ohio State 74-58 Thursday.


Liza Clemons added 14 points, April Wilson and reserve Whitney Bay both had 12 and Dee Williams added 10 for the Boilermakers (16-7, 6-5 Big Ten).


Ameryst Alston had 26 points for Ohio State (14-12, 4-6) and Raven Ferguson had 13 off the bench.


The Boilermakers led 33-24 at the half and pulled away by making all 22 of their free throws after the break.


It was Purdue’s first game without senior point guard KK Houser, who is out with a left knee injury suffered against Michigan State on Sunday. Houser, who started 66 straight games, leads the team in scoring at 15.9 points and 6.2 assists. Wilson stepped up with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Moses wore Houser’s No. 22.


ONU 72, Otterbein 57


WESTERVILLE - Junior Jordan Kimes scored a career-high 33 points to lead the No. 24 Ohio Northern women’s basketball team to a 72-57 road victory at Otterbein on Wednesday night at the Rike Center.


With the win, ONU pushes its record to 16-4 on the season and 9-4 in OAC play, while the Cardinals fall to 7-13, 3-10.


The victory also clinches a spot in the OAC Tournament for the Polar Bears.


Kimes finished the game 16-of-21 (76.2 percent) from the field and pulled down six rebounds.


Her 33 points are the fourth most scored in a game in program history.


Senior Cenzie Yoder added eight points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Brooke Espenschied scored five points, dished out six assists and pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds.


Manchester 51, Bluffton 50


BLUFFTON - Brooke Ruffer had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Beavers. Teammate Rachel Beining had 13 points and 14 rebounds.


Men’s basketball


ONU 88, Otterbein 74


ADA — Senior Dominique Royal led a group of four players scoring in double figures as Ohio Northern defeated Otterbein 88-74 Thursday night at the ONU Sports Center.


The Polar Bears improved their record to 11-9 overall and 7-6 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Cardinals fell to 4-16, 3-10.
