LIMA — The Lima Noon Sertoma Club will again hold its Summer Speech and Hearing Program this June and July.
Applications for the program will be accepted until May 23, Sertoma member Erin Hardesty said.
The program begins June 16, and the five-week, 10-session program ends July 17 at three locations, Market Street Presbyterian Church, Lima Baptist Temple and Trinity United Methodist Church in Delphos. The fee is $90, which covers about half of the program’s cost. However, the fee is on a sliding schedule based on federal income guidelines, with a minimum payment of $5.
Children and a family member must attend one of two screening sessions June 2 in Delphos and June 3 in Lima to participate in the program, Hardesty said. The session is mandatory because a pathologist determines eligibility, schedules therapy times and establishes treatment goals.
Children between the ages of 3 and 18 are eligible if they are currently enrolled in a school speech and language therapy program or has a speech/language disability. Call Jennifer Gast at 419-222-8806 for registration information and other details about the program.
The program includes 10 small group or individual 30-minute therapy sessions, and a licensed speech/language pathologist works with children and their parents.
The club has sponsored the program 30 years and used its Pancake Day fundraiser to fund the program.
