Several fire companies responded to a blaze in a Dover Township storage unit Monday night that caused more than $70,000 damage.

The Wauseon Fire Department received notice at 9:21 p.m. after a passerby reported seeing smoke at the All Seasons Development storage building at 13900 Delbert Drive in Ottokee. According to Chief Rick Sluder, 15 storage units in the 30-unit building were fully engulfed.

The fire was contained after 40 minutes, although fire crews remained on the scene for about 2 1/2 hours. There were no injuries, and there was no damage to other buildings, although firefighters initially feared the flames would spread to nearby structures.

The damage estimate to the storage building does not include the contents of the individual storage units affected.

No cause for the fire has been determined. The state fire marshal is investigating.

Firefighters were assisted at the scene by fire crews from Archbold, Delta, Lyons, and Morenci, Mich.
