LIMA — The famous poet Robert Browning wrote, “Grow old with me! The best is yet to be.” The Ford Mustang epitomizes this quote. It was produced in the latter half of 1964 with the first full model year production being 1965. The car is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and is still a sales success for Ford. Ford added a fastback model to the 1965 model line. Fashion icon, Coco Chanel said, “Fashion changes, but style endures.” The Ford Mustang style has endured for more than 50 years, and will continue to last far into the future.
Lonnie Collins, of Lima, brought his 1965 Ford Mustang to The Lima News’ Real Wheels Cruise-In. He has owned it for 21 years. He bought the car in 1992, and restored it over an approximate 15 year period. He says his favorite memory of the car is seeing the finished car delivered on an open trailer to his driveway by the body shop.
