After being laid off on Nov. 7, 2013, by the City of Delphos, Cory Meyer wasted no time finding new employment. Meyer accepted a firefighter/paramedic position with Hebgen Basin Fire District based in West Yellowstone, Montana.

Meyer packed his personal belongings in his truck and drove to Montana, beginning his new job on Nov. 19. Meyer’s wife and two sons stayed behind until the house sold and Cory could locate a new place to call home. Cory was able to find a new home and Meyer’s family joined him on Dec. 19th after securing a moving company and a new buyer for their recently built house just outside of Delphos.

Meyer and family are adjusting well to the new location and school system. Meyer states there is plenty of cold and snow, but the mountain views are magnificent and watching buffalo in your yard is a wonderful experience. Meyer is a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, and wants to thank the City Administration for their poor planning and financial management that offered him the chance at life in the mountains.

Cory states he was proud to serve the citizens of Delphos. Cory also goes on to wish the Fire and EMS Department the best of luck. I enjoyed my time there and miss my co-workers.

— Cory Meyer, West Yellowstone, MT
