The “Barbers Give Bikes” program would like to send out a big thank you to everyone who helped us raise enough money to give new bikes and helmets to underprivileged children for Christmas. There isn’t enough room to thank everyone, but all donations added up to another great Christmas for many area children. The Lima Rotary Foundation donated helmets to go with each bike. Other donations were received by the Lima News, Martin Printing, Bill Hartoon, Cheap Sign Company, Wannemacher Trucking, and The Walmart Foundation including the staff and management at the Allentown Road Walmart Store.

Our thanks also to the following shops who donated to our cause: Elmview Barbers, Westwood Barbers, Northland Barbers, Rogers’ Barber Shop and Silver Shears Barbers. Special thanks to the customers of Rogers’ Barber Shop, Westwood Barbers and Silver Shears Barbers who generously filled the collection jars in their shops.

Bikes were distributed through The Lima News Empty Stocking Fund, The Salvation Army, Fraternal order of Police, Shop With a Cop and area churches. The number of bikes given since the program’s inception 6 years ago totals 920.

Again, thank you to customers, friends and community members who made Christmas brighter for these area children.

— Art Brinkman and Jim Sherrick, Lima
