We would like to thank all those that attended and supported the benefit for Jeri Dotson-Modschiedler. As some of you know, in September of this year a local family was changed forever. Jeri Dotson-Modschiedler was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer weeks after giving birth to the family’s youngest son. This news temporarily brought this family to a complete standstill. Jeri said “No, I have five children and two step-children, including my newborn son, and I refuse to give up. I am going to fight this and beat it, like a girl!”
After hearing this from Jeri, we all turned around and put our boxing gloves on with her and looked for ways to help.
In just five weeks, friends and loved ones put together a benefit for Jeri and her family to help them maintain life while they all paused to reorganize and fight. This benefit started as something small, but once people heard her story, it turned into much more. The help and support we found from other family members, area businesses, co-workers , family friends, churches, and even strangers from out of town was unbelievable! We found that there really are people out there who still believe in caring and lending a helping hand of support to those in need.
Jeri and her family are most thankful for your generosity! We would love to be able to list each and every one of you who have donated, supported, helped, etc. However, if we listed everyone, this thank you letter would be five pages long. You know who you are, and you need to know that you have truly made a difference for this family.
We apologize that this letter has taken so long to complete. Finding the time and a proper way to thank everyone for all they have done came to be a very difficult job. There truly aren’t words to say enough for all the outpouring of love, prayers and support this community did for this mother and her family!
Just an update for all: Jeri is staying strong and fighting tough! Thankfully the chemo is making a difference in helping her fight this life altering disease. She recently received results that show the chemo is working and the tumors are shrinking. This has only given her and her family more fighting power and strength to ensure she will beat this.
A small note about the benefit as most of you know the weather tried very hard to push us down and beat us that day. However, we don’t give up that easily! We all stuck together and made the very best of the day and showed Jeri and Konrad our love and support! It turned out to be very successful and beneficial after all.
Thank you for all each and everyone of you did to make that day amazing for the Modschiedlers! We are all looking forward to continuing this benefit on a yearly basis and continuing to show Jeri and her family our support and our fight right along with her! We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
The tentative date for next year’s benefit is Sept. 13th. Mark your calendars and we hope to see you all there with an even better updated result for Jeri! Thank you ever so much from the bottom of our hearts!
The support staff of Jeri and her family.
