Everyone is upset about the condition of water supplies on several of our nearby lakes. The Lima News printed an article in Monday’s paper that stated that farmers’ runoff and sludge plants are being blamed for this problem. No where did I see that everyone who fertilizes their yards were being blamed.

There is so much housing growth along the rivers and lake channels in the last 20 years. All you see is big, beautiful yards. The fertilizer from these yards runs directly into our rivers and lakes.

Please quit blaming us farmers. Look in the mirror … most of you are to blame. Do you want a “pretty, green yard” or do you want safer water and food on your table?
