My morning regimen includes an early morning daily walk, usually leaving from the Y and including the surrounding neighborhoods. My path allows me to greet many early risers and see our community at the closest level. The condition of some central city housing and surroundings is distressing, yet pride shows in many homes and their lawns and gardens.
My special thanks goes to those who provide a kind word and beautiful flowers and gardens to make my trips memorable.
One of the very best spots in the central city is the Children’s Garden at the Allen County Museum. Enjoying its simple beauty and diversity has brought much enjoyment and provided a place for a short rest on my morning strolls. A few minutes looking at the plantings, each well marked, and looking at the whimsical exhibits and designs bring smiles and memories to enjoy throughout the day. The garden brings a sense of life and beauty to the neighborhood.
Thanks to the Allen County Museum and its leadership for the quality of its collection and service, and a special thanks for continuing and maintaining the Children’s Garden. It brings a lot of smiles to this old man.
