I have belonged to veterans organizations for more than 30 years. I am really active in several of them. I wish I had joined sooner than I did. I could have been one of the members who helps our veterans.
Just by being counted, our national veterans organization leaders have a strong voice when talking to the president and Congress. They talk to Congress for veterans benefits and fight for square deals. When they say we have millions of veterans with extended families that vote, Congress tends to listen some.
Recently in the news with deaths of veterans waiting to be seen or treated, veterans organizations stepped in again to fight for us. They are yelling for investigations and even resignations of people paid to see that veterans receive care.
If you don’t belong, join today. You can say I helped because I was counted and our veterans deserve care after serving.
