Toledo St. John’s pulls away from Lima Senior

TOLEDO — Parker Ernsthasen scored 18 points to lead Toledo St. John’s to an 83-55 boys basketball victory over Lima Senior.


The Spartans dropped to 1-1, 0-1 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.


St. John’s led 25-15 after the first quarter and 45-26 at the half.


Gabe Kynard had 17 points for St. John’s.


Rico Stafford led Lima Senior with 17 points. Jay Thomas added 11 points with three 3-pointers. Mari Billinghan scored nine.


Toledo St. John’s is 1-2, 1-0 in the TRAC.


St. John’s hit eight 3-pointers for the game.

[head]Parkway 47, Temple Christian 46


ROCKFORD — Parkway’s Matt Heindel tossed in 18 points to lift the Panthers past Temple Christian.


Brock Bowman paced the Pioneers with 14 points and four 3-pointers, Keaton Good scored eight.


The Pioneers led 27-23 at the half, but Parkway took a 35-31 lead into the final quarter.


[head]Antwerp 51, Fort Jennings 50


ANTWERP — Connor Wallenhorst scored 33 points, but it wasn’t enough for Fort Jennings, as the Musketeers fell to Antwerp. No one else on the Musketeers scored more than three points.


Wallenhorst scored 19 at the half. He hit 13 of 17 from the field and 4 of 4 on free throws.


Nick Von Sossan had six rebounds for Fort Jennings.


[head]New Knoxville 56, Waynesfield-Goshen 27


WAYNESFIELD — New Knoxville put the gas pedal down in the second quarter, outscoring Waynesfield-Goshen 23-2, and cruised home with the win.


Jalen Fullenkamp scored 12 points for the Rangers, while Andrew Arnett scored 10.


Trey Crumrine led the Tigers with seven points.


[head]LCC postpones boys game


Lima Central Catholic postponed its game at Dayton Chaminade-Julienne on Saturday because of snow. The game was rescheduled for a junior varsity tipoff at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Dayton.


[head]Miller City 50, Ayersville 30


AYERSVILLE —Miller City’s Jackson Lammers scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats over Ayersville.


Lammers hit three 3-pointers. Cody Heuerman scored nine for the Wildcats.


Miller City led 18-7 after the first quarter and 30-17 at the half.


[head]Fort Recovery 67, Delphos Jefferson 60


DELPHOS — Fort Recovery got a big night from Elijah Kahlig, with 30 points and five 3-pointers, in a win over Delphos Jefferson.


Dill Worth added 15 for the Indians.


Trey Smith paced Delphos Jefferson with 22 points. Austin Jettinghoff had 15 points and three 3-pointers. Ross Thompson had 11 points and 12 rebounds.


Both teams stand 2-1.

[head]Defiance 66, Paulding 54


DEFIANCE — Defiance outrebounded Paulding 33-18 and went on to post a non-league victory over the Panthers.


Defiance is 2-0, while Paulding is 2-1.


Trey Guilliam led Defiance with 24 points with six 3-pointers. Wes Deter and Katwan Singleton both scored 11.


[head]Van Wert 60, Ottoville 57


VAN WERT — Michael Smelser scored 20 points and Connor Holliday added 18 to help Van Wert knock off Ottoville.


Nathan Stoller added 10 points for the Cougars.


Van Wert led 30-22 at the half and 40-34 after three. The Cougars then held off the Big Green at the end.


Only three players scored for the Big Green. Luke Schimmoeller led the way with 26 points. Tyler Roby had 18, while Brandt Landin scored 13.


[head]St. Henry 56, St. Marys 42


ST. MARYS — St. Henry’s Ryan Mikesell hit 9 of 14 from the field for 22 points to power the Redskins past St. Marys.


Mikesell also pulled down 10 rebounds and had three blocks. A.J. Niekamp had 11 points.


Marquis Wilson led St. Marys with 12 points.


St. Henry outscored St. Marys 17-6 in the third quarter to take a 42-30 lead.


[head]Versailles 58, New Bremen 47


NEW BREMEN — Kyle Ahrens scored 14 points to lead Versailles past New Bremen.


Ben Homan scored 18 for New Bremen. Carson Manger scored 17.


[head]Leipsic 68, Cory-Rawson 24


LEIPSIC — Leipsic’s Jordan Brown scored 16 points, while Zach Kuhlman added 14 in the Vikings’ win over Cory-Rawson.


Gavin Cupp and Brown both had six rebounds for the Vikings. Neil Haselman scored 10.


[head]Minster 64, Sidney Lehman 51


MINSTER — Minster outscored Sidney Lehman 26-15 in the fourth quarter to pull away with the win.


Prater Otting scored 13 points and had six rebounds for Minster. Austin Brackman scored 12 for Minster.


Jackson Frantz scored 17 points for Lehman.


Minster shot 45 percent from the field and held Lehman to shooting 26 percent. Lehman won the rebounds, 36-24.


Shawnee to induct


2 into athletic hall


Shawnee High School will induct Brad Keenan and Rick DeStephens into its Athletic Hall of Fame prior to the varsity basketball game against Delphos St. John’s on Jan. 11.


Keenan graduated from Shawnee in 1981 and was a nine-time letter winner and captain of his high school football, basketball and track teams. In 1981, he was selected as the school’s outstanding male athlete.


DeStephens is a 1978 Shawnee grad who earned three letters and was the team captain in wrestling. In 1978 he finished third in the state meet.
