ONU receives accolades, award
The Ohio Northern University Department of Technological Studies received honors at the international Technology and Engineering Educators Association.
Ohio Northern students Ben Freer, a sophomore technology education major from Ashland, and Brandon Ike, a sophomore technology education major from Sidney, were undergraduate scholarship co-winners of the Foundation for Technology and Engineering Educators award. They received $500, respectively.
Levi Brown, a 2013 ONU technology education graduate, was recognized with the Pitsco/Hearlihy/FTEE Grant for his work with the development of a STEM program at Riverdale High School.
David Rouch, ONU professor of technological studies, was recognized for his years of service.
ONU’s Gamma Lambda Chapter received the Region 3 Chapter of the Year, for the seventh time in the past 11 years.
Sheena Marston, a 2013 ONU construction management graduate, won the student essay award and the undergraduate student research award.
In addition, Ohio Northern University student Brittany Lang, a senior graphic design major from Newark, was one of six winners at the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio, held at the Ohio Dominican University. The award honors senior students from independent colleges who were deemed finalists int he competition by a panel of Ohio artists and members of the art community. Lang’s work will be displayed at the pm gallery in Columbus during The Short North Arts District Gallery Hop that occurs every first Saturday of each month.
Scott joins Chamber
Nicole Scott has joined Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce as director of communications.
Her responsibilities will include website, social media, email advertisements and small business articles. She is also responsible for resources such as the business directory and community view book. She will coordinate quarterly events such as Women in Business and Connections and serve on the small business/culture diverse committee.
Wisener joins ag professional group
Brad A. Wisener, with Consolidated Appraisal Services Co., in Wapakoneta, has joined the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. Wisener has joined as an associate member.
He has been a rural appraiser for three years. Rural appraisers specialize in providing an accurate estimate for the value of rural resource properties.
