Paul Richter, 58, of Perrysburg, was hauling a flatbed trailer with more than 60,000 pounds of rolled steel when he lost control of the vehicle and went off the right side of the roadway into the ditch. Both the tractor and the trailer subsequently rolled onto their sides.
Richter was taken to Wood County Hospital to be treated for possible injuries. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. The tractor was heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene, along with the rolled steel. An amount of oil that spilled along the side of the road as well as the dirt had to be cleaned by EMA personnel.
