VAN WERT — Officers from the Van Wert Police Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped more than 200 drivers during a recent two-day enforcement blitz to promote safety.
The blitz took place May 2 and 3 to target crash-causing violations. Officers made more than 200 traffic stops that included more than 80 enforcement actions. Officers issued more than 120 warnings, the state patrol reported.
Officers arrested eight people for drunken driving, seven for driving under suspension, 30 for not wearing seat belts and three for child restraints not in use, the patrol reported.
There were more than 17 misdemeanor drug arrest and one felony drug arrest. There were five other misdemeanor arrests and the Police Department served three warrants, the patrol reported.
