LIMA — Inez Ruth Margaret Cole will celebrate her 95th birthday March 28, 2014. Cards or notes would be appreciated.
She was born March 28, 1919, to Robert and Minnie Mechling, and raised on a farm in Perry Township. She was the youngest daughter. Her siblings included, Pete, Robert Jr., Jack, Dick, Helen Steed, Opal Steed, Frances Reimesch, Edith Kline and Luella Reichelderfer. She married Earl J. Cole in 1936, and they celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Cole has one son, John W. Cole; and four daughters, Patricia Morlock, Janet (Robert) Eberle, Nancy Sulfredge and Sharon (Richard) Slonaker, all in the Lima area. She has 18 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 60 great-great-grandchildren and five great-great-great-grandchildren.
She retired in 1977 after 35 years of service from Westinghouse.
Cole was a member of Lima Senior Citizens. She enjoys crocheting lap robes for veterans at the VA Hospital in Dayton, for which she received special recognition. She also received an award for volunteer work with the Allen County Sheriff’s office under Dan Beck in 1996.
