ST. MARYS — A 19-year-old Celina man was injured early Saturday when he crashed a car after he tried to outrun officers.
Dominic DiSalvo was taken to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, St. Marys Police reported.
DiSalvo was driving at 1:32 a.m. when an officer tried to stop him for driving left of center. The officer activated his lights and sirens but DiSalvo did not stop, police officials reported.
DiSalvo continued through the city driving at or just above the speed limit. He stopped at stop signs and used turn signals. He then drove out of the city west on state Route 703 as police officers followed, officials reported.
When DiSalvo reached the 7500 block of state Route 703 he began to accelerate to speeds of 70 to 80 mph. He lost control of his vehicle and left the right side of the road striking a utility pole. The vehicle rolled over and DiSalvo was partially ejected, police officials reported.
Charges were pending, police officials reported.
