CELINA — The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office received “full compliance” in Ohio’s Collaborative Law Enforcement Agency status.
Sheriff Jeff Grey made the announcement Monday. The status covers having policies in place on the use of force and use of deadly force that follow state standards.
That includes the appropriate training as well as reporting any time the use of force or deadly force occurs.
Another part of the status is the agency’s employee recruitment and hiring. The standards promote hiring qualified people while promoting a diverse workplace. The report said the agency hasn’t hired a sworn officer in several years and most hiring that has occurred was from the corrections division.
