WAPAKONETA — A boutique that recently opened in downtown Wapakoneta will host a special celebration this weekend.
Pamela Rose Boutique, located at 117 E. Auglaize St., will hold a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature discounted offers, door prizes, entertainment by DJ Janiegirl And Company, food and drinks.
“We just wanted to invite everyone down to enjoy some drinks and food, and to relax and look around,” said Pam Marsh, owner of Pamela Rose Boutique. “It should be a lot of fun.”
Marsh, a Bluffton resident, is the second business owner to open a boutique in downtown Wapakoneta this year. Wonderfully Made Boutique, owned by Megan Opperman, opened in March.
Pamela Rose is not a traditional boutique in that it sells home decor items as well as women’s fashion. It’s the combination of clothing/accessories and home decor that Marsh believes sets her apart.
“It’s a good blend of both,” she said. “If you look around, every little spot has decorative items and clothes.”
Marsh sells new and gently used clothing items, many of which are brand names, along with accessories such as shoes, jewelry, earrings and purses. There is also a wide variety of home decor items at the boutique, including lamps, tables, wall decorations, antiques, refurbished furniture and more.
“We get new items every day, so we change it up a lot as far as what we carry,” she said. “You’ve got to keep it fresh.”
Though Marsh owns the boutique, she has 10 vendors that sell items in booths throughout the store. Each vendor is unique in the clothing and home decor items they sell, Marsh said, which helps keep the boutique “fresh.”
“I never worked with clothes before opening this store — I had been in the decorating business for 20-plus years — so I needed a little guidance in that area,” Marsh said. “We thought having more women would mean we’d have more variety, and I think that’s really helped.”
With decades of experience in decorating homes, Marsh wants to share her expertise with the local community. She is inviting people to take classes on interior decorating at the boutique, along with other courses on pottery, refurbishing furniture and more.
Details on these classes will be available online at facebook.com/PamelaRoseAUniqueBoutique.
Pamela Rose Boutique is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The boutique will offer Sunday hours starting in October.
