LIMA — A 36-year-old Delphos man was killed Saturday in a car crash at the intersection of Piquad Road and Defiance Trail.

Brian J. Grothouse, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, Mason L. Kuhn, 18, of Oxford, was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Three occupants of Kuhn’s van, Zachary T. Goecke, 19, of Spencerville, Jacob J. Matus, 19, of Flushing, Michigan, and Peyton B. Stites, 18, of Yorktown, Indiana, all were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at St. Rita’s, the patrol reported.

Grothouse was driving west on Piquad Road at about noon when Kuhn, who was driving north on Defiance Trail, failed to stop at the stop sign, and collided with Grothouse’s Jeep, the patrol reported.

Grothouse’s Jeep traveled off the right side of the road and overturned in a field. Kuhn’s van also drove off the road into the same field, the patrol reported.

Grothouse and Kuhn were wearing seat belts. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor, the patrol reported.

The crash remained under investigation late Saturday, the patrol reported.
