VAN WERT — More than 700 cars passed through a sobriety checkpoint Friday with only one arrest.
An adult was arrested for drunken driving at the checkpoint on state Route 118 between Cooper and Fox roads. The checkpoint was open for three hours, Van Wert Post Commander Lt. Tim Grigsby reported.
Van Wert Police also helped at the checkpoint.
A second reason to hold such checkpoints is educating drivers on the dangers of impaired driving, Grigsby said.
