LIMA — The Lima Symphony Orchestra presents its final concert of the season Saturday night.
“We always like to do something, big to end the season on a high note. So we’re going to have the Lima Symphony Chorus with us and they’re very popular,” said Sara Chongson, marketing and ticketing coordinator. “They are there for our Christmas concert and usually for the spring concert.”
Combining the orchestra and chorus lends itself to an evening of easy listening.
“They’re doing a modern work called ‘In Principio.. It’s a modern piece but it’s really simple. Simple but yet combined with the orchestra it’s incredibly powerful. It actually has the Gospel from St. John, that’s the text of the piece, and it’s in four movements. That’s going to be the first part of the concert in addition to a smaller piece called ‘The Enchanted Lake,’ which is just incredibly romantic and lovely. But that’s a miniature piece compared to the chorus,” said Chongson.
The second half of the show includes the very popular composer, Brahms.
“In our second half we are performing Brahms First Symphony which is just a huge work. And its one of the most popular symphonies. Brahms is a traditional romantic composer. His work is inexhaustible and runs the realm of every emotion, all the highs and the lows. It’s very big in terms of the orchestra, it’s going to be such a huge piece. It’s very powerful, incredibly emotional and the perfect way to end our season,” said Chongson.
There will be some materials for a bit of a preview of its next season, and people can order their tickets for next season as well.
