LIMA — One thing most everyone can agree upon is that there is plenty of entertainment at the Allen County Fair. And when there is free entertainment, that makes for a good fair.
Tina Winn is with the Galaxy Girl acrobat act. She teamed up with her boyfriend, Johnny Rocket, for a show that is going to be both breathtaking and death defying.
“We are bringing the cybertron to the fair. A motorcycle will be on an elevated platform in the air, and we will be doing an acrobat act on the other side of the motorcycle platform,” Winn said. “We have no net and no safety devices.”
Winn grew up in the circus, as she is a seventh-generation performer.
“A lot of people ask if I am scared. I respect what I do a lot and do not take it for granted. I love it and I have a lot of passion for it,” she said.
The duo will be performing three times a day during the fair at the North Midway.
Another event taking place is Welde’s Bears. Johnny Welde will be bringing six bears to the Allen County Fair. His show will be both educational and entertaining at the same time. His family owns Bearadise in Florida, and they take in orphan cubs.
Like Winn, Welde got into this business because of his grandfather.
“My grandfather created the business 90 years ago. In the late ’40s and ’50s he did 19 movies with Walt Disney and a lot of television shows, like ‘Lassie’ and ‘Lucy’,” said Welde.
Welde’s Big Bear Show is located in Roschman Park.
