LIMA — The roars of the engines will echo through the Allen County Fair grandstand with the 107.5 WZRX Demolition Derby, the Tug a Truck competition and the National Tractor Pullers Association truck and tractor pulls coming back to this year’s fair.
This year’s fair features three days in a row dedicated to motorsports, with the demo derby starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, the Tug a Truck starting at 7 p.m. Sunday and the truck and tractor pull starting at 7 p.m. Monday.
“The demo derby is a longstanding staple that we’ve hosted at the fair,” fair general manager Bob Fricke said. “The Tug a Truck is popular in the area, and with they NTPA, they are the sanctioning body when you talk about truck and tractor pulling in the United States.”
The demo derby will feature customized cars and trucks that have been modified to withstand the pounding of the derby, each one vying to be the last one standing in the cement ring. The Tug a Truck will pit trucks against each other in a 200-horsepower tug-of-war for cash prizes, while the NTPA truck and tractor pull will include light pro stock, modified dragster tractors, two-wheel drive trucks and semi tractors gunning for the top spot.
Infield pass prices for the demo derby and Tug a Truck are $15 for all ages. General admission for the demo derby is $8 for ages 7 and up, while Tug a Truck general admission is $5 for ages 7 and up. Both are free to children 6 and under. General admission for the NTPA truck and tractor pull is $12 for ages 14 and over, $7 for children 7 to 13 and free for children 6 and under. Pit tickets are available for $15 for all ages. Prices do not include fair admission.
